Our Story
At Hulstein Construction, we believe every project begins with trust. Our roots in excavation and concrete stretch back to 1992, when the Hulstein family began building a reputation for hard work, honesty and precision.
Over the years, what started as a small, local operation has grown into a multi-division construction group, offering excavation, concrete paving and trucking services throughout South Dakota, Minnesota and the Midwest. Today, we continue to honor our heritage while embracing innovation to serve our clients better.

To better serve our customers, we’ve expanded into three specialized divisions:
- Hulstein Excavating – Earthmoving, grading and underground utilities for residential, agricultural, commercial and municipal projects.
- Hulstein Concrete – Durable paving, decorative finishes and flatwork solutions.
- Prairie States Trucking – Heavy highway hauling, grading and snow removal services across the Midwest.
